Musings about Donald Trump (2)

Give Him a mulligan. .

"Yes, evangelicals, conservatives, they gave him a mulligan. They let him have a do-over. They said we'll start afresh with you and we'll give you a second chance."  Tony Perkins,   "Erin Burnett OutFront."

The president has sought the favor of ministers and worship leaders. His monthly prayer and singing meeting can be compared to Saul securing Samuel’s presence in his religious exercises. Trump’s silent acceptance of “I have sinned” is acknowledged by all. When brought to his attention, he is ready to confess without reservation, as long as his feelings and honor are spared. This group, led by Paula White, is seen as a spiritual pacifier, with no need for a word of discipline, as long as his conscience is appeased. These leaders do not fear God’s judgment but rather what the modern-day church and the world think of them.

Misdirected prayers with this president have ushered in a course of judgment. God cannot change His pledged word.

Where was the prophet during the meeting with Donald Trump? What about before the meeting? No, there was no voice to reason with them, to unfold the future, and to warn them of all the consequences of choosing such a man for president. Many leaders, but only “blind leaders of the blind.” Sadly, many unbelievers could see through this hypocrisy as the church submitted to one with a proud and ambitious spirit.

Is Donald Trump MAD? That will be a question.

President Trump is more desirous of the favor of the evangelicals than to be right with God.

His days will end with a funeral song, the last stanza bringing closure for the moment but later used as a tale to be told.

He was a president after our minds, not our hearts.

Donald Trump becoming president again will be like clouds gathering and quickly settling over the nation, bringing a darkness that will seem like an eternity.

There is a modern-day application of the separation between Saul and Samuel (1 Sam. 15:35) to the relationship between evangelicals and Donald Trump. They had joined together for the good of Israel and the glory of God, but when the king disobeyed God’s command and was stripped of his kingship, the prophet could no longer condone his actions. Should this not be the proper response of the church to the efforts of our president? When the Church closely follows the will of the Holy Spirit, it will not have fellowship with iniquity. We cannot continue to compromise the God-given principles set before us for the sake of our American heritage and all it stands for. We must be more jealous of His glory than of our nation's glory.

The time has come for Christians to distance themselves from our president’s policies and actions. Our souls are endangered by his ungodly words and deeds. It is better to be the lone ranger than to endorse such actions. Jesus gave us this command: “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whoever will save his life shall lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. For what is a man advantaged, if he gains the whole world, and loses himself, or be a castaway? For whosoever shall be ashamed of me, and of my words, of Him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his glory, and his Father, and of the holy angels.” (Luke 9:23-26) There must be no compromise of truth.

God will never change Trump's heart, even though many prayers continue on his behalf. He has hidden His face from him.

Donald Trump, like Saul, has a vindictive spirit. He is suspicious of all. Saul killed the priests and would have killed Samuel. (1 Sam 22:9-19) A true prophet will understand a wicked leader.
