Bloom where you are planted.

A couple of days ago, I was sitting at the creek on my deck when I looked over the side and saw a small, beautiful flower growing. What was unusual was that there was no other foliage around it. It was growing by itself among sticks, some dirt, and even some stones. At that moment, I was reminded of a saying from my childhood Sunday school teacher: “bloom where you are planted.”

Who doesn’t love flower gardens or going to a flower shop? Plants come in all colors, sizes, and, yes, even different fragrances. It takes a lot of work and planning to have a beautiful flower bed or garden. Or in a shop, prepping and planning where to place the flowers.

Sometimes the most beautiful flower is when it is in its environment that is not cultivated or anticipated. No human touches it; it just appears. It catches our eyes, and we marvel. How did it get there? Stony, hard ground, but oh, the results. Can you see an analogy that relates to our Christian walk? God will plant us in areas that seem to the natural eye to be stony, uncultivated, asking the question, "Where are all the other beautiful flowers?" No, it may be that where you are at in your life is only for the very pleasure of the Father. Although it may be a very short time, which is the fact of our life, but just a vapor, but oh that He is pleased, and we hope that He says, “Well done, beautiful flower, enter in with all other that I have gathered for my bouquet.”

So I will bloom as long as He allows me to live. Though it is a lonely path, all that is important is that He loves what He sees and says …           ” well done…enter in.”
